Training course in Yoga Therapy and Integrative Medicine
A 300-hour course in Yoga Therapy and Integrative Medicine leading to the 500-hour YAI Master Yoga Teacher certificate
Whilst in India it has always been an intrinsic value of yogic practices to have a positive impact on the practitioner’s health, and with a few exceptions, until recently there was no particular need to develop a branch entirely dedicated to its therapeutic purposes. In contrast, in the West, over the last few decades, there has been a growing emphasis on this aspect, and today yoga therapy represents a valuable synthesis of ancient Eastern wisdom and the latest Western knowledge in the fields of complementary medicine, biomechanics and posturology.
The complementary nature of yoga and integrative medicine is reflected in their shared aim of rebalancing energy within an individual’s energy systems, thereby enhancing their performance and the integration between their various parts. Whilst yoga provides a holistic method for promoting an individual’s wellbeing and transformation, Shiatsu and meridian theory provide a framework for understanding which postures or exercises are best suited to improving a particular imbalance.
This course is suitable for all yoga teachers who wish to deepen their knowledge and improve their ability to support their students. It is also useful for therapists and medical professionals who wish to integrate their existing knowledge with new insights. Furthermore, experienced yoga practitioners can benefit from this course to enhance their practice.
The course is certified by Yoga Alliance International (YAI), based in India (you can obtain the YAI 500-hour Master Yoga Teacher certification if you already hold a yoga instructor certification of at least 200 hours).
Yoga therapy: the Holismos training course
Holismos International School of Yoga Therapy and Integrative Medicine offers its students the opportunity to undertake this training by attending a four-week intensive course at our ‘Mediterranean Retreats Centre’ on the island of Lesbos, Greece. This course is taught in English.
